MARCH MEETING UPDATES (see November Agenda for on-going items)

In our March meeting, we used our November Agenda as the main guideline, as most of the items have not changed. We continue to pursue creating a SEPAC (as in Roseville) within WP, and pursue being a part of the CAC, and/or initiating and maintaining lines of communication wi th the reps currently in those positions.

We also discussed the parents' rights to have all and any Assessments results or Reports provided to them prior to any IEP or similar meeting. We maintain, along with the documented support of Area Board III, that parents DO have a mandated RIGHT to those documents for review PRIOR to such meetings. We suggest that you request them in writing a couple weeks prior to any meeting (see printable downloads). If you do not receive them, we suggest that you table the meeting and reschedule it until you have them in your possession for proper review BEFORE such meetings.

We also are making available on the Downloads page, a sample letter requesting Assessments for your child, one devised by SEAMS, and one as provided by Area Board III (once I scan that one in). Download and insert your child's name, and alter to fit the concerns you have for YOUR child.

We also continue to wait for the public posting of the survey results collected from parents and conducted by the state regarding Special Ed in WP, as was planned. We also look forward to adding information regarding the programs and policies of the Special Ed Dept to be available on the WPUSD website, as is available for the other various programs such as GATE and the like.

ALSO, as a HUGE surprise, we were able to share during that March Meeting that WPUSD's newest Director of Special Ed has submitted his letter of resignation after nearly 2 years with the district. We will keep you updated as we find out more details regarding any developments with the filling of that position. We thank Mr. Gallup for braving the trenches with us during his time here, and being a willing communicator! He said that during his remaining time, he would strive to continue to work to leave the Special Ed Dept in a better place than when he found it. I informed him that I was just glad he found it at all! ; ) JK

Sept. 08 Agenda with answers as given

NOTE: Meeting locations may permanently be changed to Twelve Bridges Elementary School in the Staff Room. We will keep you updated. If at Twelve Bridges Directions are indicated at the bottom below, as well as on Directions Page in RED:

SEAMS meetings are typically held the second Friday of each month from 7:00 - 9:00 in the Heritage Theater in downtown Lincoln (see Directions). Often times we may have a guest speaker for the first hour, and/or discuss specific relevant topics or the latest "Agenda" (with answers as given) as addressed prior with various agencies or District personnel. This is a casual informational session with resources available. Depending on other various events that may be scheduled, we may skip actual meetings in any given month in lieu of attending and/or participating in such events.

During the second half of the meeting, we open up the floor to discuss whatever you all see relevant! We share concerns regarding our children, boast about our children, share information, vent, laugh, and simply enjoy that we are in a nonjudgmental environment with others who share common bonds and experiences!

Upon contacting SEAMS and providing us with your email address, you will be updated as to any of our special "events" and as to monthly meeting status.

Location

Meetings WERE typically held the second Friday of each month in the town of Lincoln, California. SEAMS meets are on the second floor of the Heritage Theater located off of Highway 65 at 561 G Street, Lincoln, Ca 95648 or at Twleve Briges Elementary in the Staff Room. Look to meeting email reminders for exact location for upcoming meetings.

Directions to Twelve Bridges Elementary: 2450 Eastridge Dr., in “Staff Room”:

If coming from downtown Lincoln, take HWY 65 until you get to Twelve Bridges Drive, exit there and go left, (AWAY from the casino). If coming from Roseville, take HWY 65 to Twelve Bridges exit and go Right.

Travel on TB for a little over a mile, and you will see the school on the right hand side.  Drive past the school, and turn right on EASTRIDGE Dr. and then turn into the parking lot on the right and park in there.

Go in through the gate, and walk past the ADMIN building to the right.  On the back of the ADMIN building if you curve around it to the right, is a door that says “Staff Room”.  We will meet in there.
