History
The
group was founded in October of 2005 in Lincoln, California by Marcelle
Ciampi, a parent with a special needs child and a former public school
teacher. SEAMS is currently lead by myself, Christina Conn, a parent of
six children with special needs. In addition, I am also a credentialed
teacher who has taught in WPUSD, as well as in San Diego. Several parents
of children with special needs also assist in leading SEAMS.
Since
2006, the group has been lead by Christina Conn (me), Kelly Lyons, and
Kitty Sutcliffe, (knowledgeable parents with special needs children in
the District). The group has grown from four dedicated parents to over
300 members at its current state. We are supported and sponsored by Rowell
Family Empowerment of Northern California, (see Links for more information). Membership continues to grow monthly. See Contacts page for more information on SEAMS leader and/or background qualifications
and family.
Membership
Any individual
who attends a meeting or contacts SEAMS in hopes of gaining or sharing
information or support can become a member of SEAMS. There are no annual
fees. A roster of members is kept on file for Rowell
Family Empowerment of Northern California, the sponsors of our group.
We send out monthly meeting reminders, and occasionally other relevant
information.
Rest assured,
we do not send out a ton of irrelevant "junk mail", nor do we
pass your contact information along to anyone else, other than the above,
unless YOU specifically TELL us to. Trust me, I do not have the time to
inundate you with endless propaganda even if I wanted to! That being said,
feel free to contact us at any time for more information via phone or
email, and we will get back to you! We look forward to hearing from you!
